garden beds step one

good friends realize when you feel overwhelmed. they also know just when to step in and lend a hand. My dear pal Julie is a gardener/landscaper/crafter...she was wonderful enough to come over an early saturday morning and help me put in a few manageable (being the key word) raised beds to plant some veggies.
we decided to put in a tater bed that wasn't near the other beds since they tend to take over. this will be the spot.

we forked out the earth, tilled in some compost and now have a nice loose bed for taters. next i need to put in some stakes with wire to build it up as those suckers grow.
up from the taters is where we thought would be best for 2 veggie beds

luckily the soil on our property wasn't hard to dig out. the grass came loose easily and there you have it. two lovely beds with a walk between.
Julie is a lot like me, here she takes pride in smoothing the tops of the beds...much like me with a pint of ice cream.

is there food yet?
